Some vignettes On Feminism (Part Two)

October 22, 2014

There has been a delay in posting these, made worse by my mistreatment of my notebook (it did not enjoy a serving of chocolate milk), and other distractions. Anyhoo…

Emma Watson At The UN

A few weeks ago, actress Emma Watson gave a speech on gender equality at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. There has been a mixed reaction to this speech: support from many quarters, but criticism from feminists such as Aussie clickbait queen Clementine Ford, who was upset that Watson had failed to demonize men to a sufficient degree, which is really her area of expertise.

This event was the beginning of a campaign called HeForShe, which is attempting to get men on board in the battle for women’s rights. It may not have been Watson’s best performance (she admitted to being extremely nervous), but I was sufficiently impressed by the concept that I signed the pledge.

Rock on Emma!
